LUCKNOW: Playing the position card in front of Assembly races, the Akhilesh Yadav government today gave its consent to incorporate 17 Other Backward Castes in the Scheduled Castes (SC) list.
A Cabinet meeting managed by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at the beginning of today cleared the proposition in such manner, authorities said.
The proposition, thought to be gone for charming the OBCs in the coming decisions, will now be sent to the Center for leeway, they said.
The 17 sub-ranks which the administration needs incorporated into the SC classification are Kahar, Kashyap, Kewat, Nishad, Bind, Bhar, Prajapati, Rajbhar, Batham, Gaur, Tura, Majhi, Mallah, Kumhar, Dheemar and Machua.
Prior in March 2013, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly had passed a determination requesting that the Center incorporate 17 ranks of the state into the rundown of Scheduled Castes (SC) class.
In the determination displayed by Social Welfare Minister Avdhesh Prasad and go by the voice vote in the House, it was expressed that in a point by point contemplate by UP SC/ST Research and Training Institute, these 17 standings have been observed "meriting" to be incorporated into the rundown of Scheduled Castes (SC).
The Mulayam Singh Yadav government too had passed the determination in the state Cabinet in February 2004 and had sent proposal to the Center for consideration of these ranks in SC list in December 2004.
